Students of the Faculty of Dentistry at the Medical School, University of Lublin subscribe to an obligatory course in clinical pharmacology for 9th semester of their university curriculum. The full course consists of 13 seminars. The course is completed after taking a written examination.
General principles of clinical pharmacology (pharmacokinetics, pharmacogenetics, drug therapy monitoring).
Pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic interactions, side-effects of the pharmacological agents
Treatment of the inflammatory states of oral cavity mucosa and periodontal disease (antiinflammatory drugs, antibacterial and antiviral agents)
Chemotherapy of bacterial infections: mono- and polytherapy-the rules of combined antibacterial therapies
The pharmacotherapy of allergic diseases and post-medication syndromes-allergic tests, Hoigne's, Nicolai's and Steven-Johnson's syndromes
Local anaesthetics-the treatment of overdosis taking into account the type of anaesthesia, concentration of the anaesthethic agent and anaesthetized region
The pharmacotherapy of acute and chronic pain caused by migraine, neuralgia, temporo- mandibular arthritis, astringents
The pharmacotherapy of anxiety and psychomotor agitation
Unwanted effects of glucocorticoids-prevention and management
Vitamin deficiencies-symptoms in the oral cavity, treatment
The role of platelets and endothelium in hemostasis. Drugs evoking thrombocytopenia-symptoms and management
The pharmacology of bleeding disorders
The pharmacotherapy of life-threatening conditions (syncope, shock, pulmonary oedema)
